From shortlist to quote

Carrier profiles built for procurement.

Carrier websites can all sound global, resilient and ready. The useful differences are practical: the markets they reach, the exchanges where they interconnect and whether their network has a live observed signal.

The explorer pairs those procurement clues with reverse-DNS observations. It's not a performance score or a vendor claim; it's one more way to shortlist an operator before requesting transit.

Search for any two carriers and see network reach, exchange presence, announced route space and observed signal together. Nothing to sign up for and no shortlist needed to start.

The buyer's field notes

Questions worth asking before the quote arrives.

Where do I buy IP transit or bandwidth?
Start with carriers that serve your market and traffic profile, then request quotes from a short list. viabandwidth indexes 2,916 carrier networks across 97 countries, with service-type, announced route-space and observed reverse-DNS signals to help narrow the list before the sales conversation.
What is the difference between IP transit and peering?
IP transit is paid connectivity to the broader internet; a provider carries traffic beyond the networks you connect to directly. Peering is a direct traffic exchange between two networks, usually at an internet exchange or private interconnect. Most networks use a mix of both.
How does viabandwidth verify that a carrier network is live?
The directory measures announced address space for reverse-DNS activity. PTR coverage, observed hostnames and hostname-pattern diversity are network signals gathered from the address space itself, rather than claims submitted by the carrier.
What should I compare when choosing a transit provider?
Look at the service types the provider offers, its announced route space, routing path to your important destinations, capacity options, operational support and SLA terms. A familiar global carrier is not automatically the best path for a market where a regional network has a denser local footprint.
